No need to abolish 13th amendment - Fonseka

Former Army chief Sarath Fonseka says there is no need to abolish the 13th amendment, as wanted by government ministers and officials.
He has made the remark to BBC Sandeshaya following a public meeting at Padavi-Sripura.
Mr. Fonseka has said this particular piece of legislation cannot be done away with at the whims of certain persons.

The 13th amendment was introduced as a solution to the issues raised by the people of the north and the east, he said.

He has gone on to say that a government under him would abolish the executive presidency and introduce a new constitution for all citizens to live as one in brotherhood and devoid of suspicion
