‘Gotabhaya preventing president from going ahead on LLRC recommendations ’ -Vasudeva

Defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is preventing president Mahinda Rajapaksa from implementing the recomendations of the LLRC, government minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara has said in an interview.
The government had ignored a list of proposals put forward by a group of ministers, including himself, to implement the LLRC recommendations, introduce a political solution and to cooperate with the northern provincial council, he has said.

Sri Lanka: 70% of ministers, MPs favour abolishing Executive Presidency - Vasu

Leader of the Democratic Left Front and Minister of National Languages and Social Integration, Vasudewa Nanayakkara, said more than 70% of the government ministers and MPs in Parliament were in favour of abolishing the Executive Presidency.What the country requires is a major constitutional amendment which will do away with the Executive Presidency system, he said.

Vasu wants BBS banned; says, 'It consists of terrorists who are disguised as Buddhists'

Minister of National Languages and Social Integration, Vasudeva Nanayakara, is of the opinion that the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) should be proscribed by law, as it is disrupting religious harmony in the country.
Expressing his views to Ceylon Today, Minister Nanayakkara said there were several Buddhist as well as Islamic extremist religious groups, operating in the country, which should be banned.
"The BBS is in no way an organization that can be called Buddhist. It consists of terrorists who are disguised as Buddhists.

Vasudeva Nanayakkara undressed himself: prevents UNDP funds for Judges Annual Conference 2012

Judicial Service Association (JSA), the association of the judges of the original court, had organised the Annual Judges Conference, sponsored by the UNDP -- under the  Equal Access to Justice Programme, which is scheduled for 21 and 22nd of December 2012. This programme comes under the Ministry of Languages and Social Intrigration (Hon. Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara). The Secretary to the Ministry (Ms. Malkanthi Wickramasinghe) had informed the JSA on 18th December that the Minister does not wish to sponsor this programme (conference), notwithstanding the MOU singed and an advance being paid for the venue of the Conference.
