Hemal Gunasekara Now Says He Can't Remember The "Forged" Number Plate

 Responding to the revelation made by the Police that Deputy Minister 's vehicle had a forged number plate, the Deputy Minister had said he could not remember anything about the number plate of his vehicle! "I didn't see the number plate of the vehicle. I don't even remember it... It is not my business either. It's not important whether my vehicle had a forged number plate or not. First of all, we need to find out who set fire on the Police Constable's vehicle," The Deputy Minister had said when a journalist questioned about the matter.

MPs play havoc on expressway

Two parliamentarians, who had tried to show their high-handedness on the Katunayake Expressway, were forced to withdraw following interventions by the security forces personnel.

The parliamentarians who entered the expressway violating the restrictions were from the Western and North Western provinces, sources said.

One MP had removed road barriers and entered the expressway, but after the police were alerted the moving vehicle was brought to a halt and sent back.

Pathetic state due to political interference: Major effort needed to restore SLAS pride –Ex-PMG

One-time Post Master General Soma Kotakadeniya yesterday alleged that politicians had destroyed the once proud Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS), hence a major effort was needed to restore it.
Mrs. Kotakadeniya claimed that the SLAS was in a pathetic state due to political interference and the failure on the part of SLAS officers to resist successive governments.
