Government’s solution for the national questions should be revealed immediately!
Media reported today (18th) that Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs S.M Krishna, who is in Sri Lanka at present, had stated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 17th January, 2012 that in his discussions with President Mahinda Rajapaksa on a devaluation process President Mahinda Rajapaksa had agreed for a solution that goes beyond 13 plus. Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs G.L. Peiris too has attended this media conference.
We emphasize that the people in Sri Lanka should come to know regarding the solution for the national question put forward by the President and the Government not through the foreign minister of India.
The President and the government have not presented to the country any definite solution for the national question in Sri Lanka. As such, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sri Lanka remaining silent while the Indian Foreign Minister made the aforesaid statement is a question. The Minister of Foreign affairs of Sri Lanka should have clarified the solution of the President and the government for the national question in Sri Lanka at the news conference. By not doing so the Minister has neglected his responsibility.
The President and the government have made irresponsible statements at various instances regarding the national question in Sri Lanka. We demand the President and the government to put before the people in this country immediately if they have any permanent solution for this issue.
