Treatment for Fonseka: Anoma seeks court order .

Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka’s wife Anoma said yesterday she would need a new court directive to ensure that her husband received medical treatment in hospital after the authorities had not permitted him to get such treatment recently.

“We tried to get our lawyers to intervene to get my husband to hospital but the authorities didn’t allow it. So we will have to get another court order to take him to hospital,” Mrs. Fonseka said and added that he was refused hospital treatment for two days when requested.

She said her husband had been advised to be admitted to hospital on a monthly basis to be treated for a lung condition and in addition he also suffered from ailments in the shoulder and knees which also required treatment and rest.

Mr. Fonseka usually receives his treatment at a private hospital in Colombo where he consults two doctors, who have been treating him for several years.

“They sent four prison doctors to see him but he refused. They don’t know his medical history and he did not want to meet them,” she said and added that a new court directive would be obtained in consultation with her lawyers to ensure her husband received hospital treatment. (Olindhi Jayasundere)
