UNP MPs Prevented From Entering Sapugaskanda Refinery!

A tense situation occurred in front of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery a short while ago when the UNP MPs who visited the refinery were hindered by a group of CPC employees.  The CPC employees, who belong to a trade union, were protesting against the fact finding mission by the group of UNP MPs, who were headed by Parliamentarian Ajith P Perera.  UNP Parliamentarian Harsha de Silva, who was at the location, tweeted, "MPs are turning back as we are unable to enter the CPC refinery. Hundreds of goons protected by the Police blocked the entrance."

Last Sunday night, Arunodhaya Mawatha at Obeysekarapura in Rajagiriya looked like a battle ground as a battalion of police attached to the Welikada Police Station ransacked and destroyed the home of B. Shashi Kumar after assaulting him mercilessly following an alleged incident of a policeman ‘peeping into a bathroom where a young woman was having a bath’.

Thugs attack students’ ‘Sathyagraha’

The ‘Sathyagraha’ campaign carried out by students of Rajarata University demanding authorities to remove the unjustifiable suspension of classes of 27 students has been attacked by thugs.
Today (18th), on the 191st day of the ‘Sathyagraha’, thugs who had arrived early morning in a motorcycle have set fire to the temporary hut students were using for the ‘Sathyagraha’. One student has been injured in the incident.

Another powerful Cabinet Minister, representing the government, has intervened to release a suspect, who was arrested by Police, in connection with an assault on a Policeman.
Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayarathne, has staged a protest in front of the Karuwalagasweva police, demanding the release of Karuwalagasweva PS Deputy Chairman Chaminda Ruwansiri, who was arrested for assaulting a Police officer.

A mother has been admitted to Colombo National Hospital A & E unit after an attack carried out by the thugs of the Chief Minister, Western Province.
This attack was carried on June 5th while all the parents and teachers were agitating against the political interference carried out in Ashoka College, Colombo. Teachers and students are accusing the principal of being a henchman of the CM and destroying the school and its education.

The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) yesterday asked the government to stop harassing its members following a recent goon attack on the Ruhuna University students or face a countrywide strike. Addressing a media conference at the Faculty Club of the Colombo University, FUTA President Chandragupta Thenuwara said that the government sponsored thugs had attacked the vehicle of a lecturer of the Ruhuna University during the protest on Monday, demanding that Deyata Kirula exhibition be held within the university premises.

Tangalle town has become the latest ‘Chicago’, where those who speak and act against those in power are murdered in broad daylight while the police and the people look on, he told the media today. The MP noted that the private bus conductor Prabhath Chandana was shot in the head yesterday at the Tangalle bus halt in the high security zone within which the president’s home is located.

The government closes universities to hold carnivals, while the master blaster has become a thug leader ripping open students’ heads, said JVP secretary Tilvyn Silva. Speaking to the media in Colombo today (03), Mr. Silva condemned the attack on the previous day on Ruhuna University students by government thugs led by Sanath Jayasuriya. After digging his own grave, Mervyn Silva is now keeping silent, while his role has been taken over by Sanath Jaysuriya who is trying to dig graves for the students, said the JVP secretary.

A group of thugs of politicians who stormed into the University of Ruhuna at around 2.00 pm  on June 02 have allegedly attacked a group of students and threatened lecturers. A group of nearly 300 of parliamentarian Sanath Jayasuriya, Provincial Council Minister D.V Upul and Aruna Gunaratne have thus been involved in the attack, reports say. As the thugs chased the students they have hidden in safe locations. Some thugs, who claimed that the students did not allow the Deyata Kirula National Exhibition to be held in the university premises, have possessed clubs and battens.

Shocker: Brazen attack on traffic policeman by politico’s goons

A traffic policeman assigned to the Southern Expressway was attacked by goons of a local politician because he had booked him for an offence, police say.
A police constable attached to the Southern Highway Traffic Surveillance Unit was hospitalized after being beaten up by a gang near his house in Bombuwala area in Dodangoda, may have been attacked because he booked a local government politician for speeding on the highway a few days earlier.

A female Judicial Medical Officer this week told a High Court inquiry into the killing of British national Khuram Shaikh, that during the attack in Tangalle, his Russian girl friend (Victoria) had suffered injuries which could have been fatal. The trial was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Rohini Walgama this week. The incident took place on Christmas Day in 2011 at ‘The Nature’ Hotel in Tangalle where the British national was fatally shot and his fiancé beaten up and sexually assaulted by the suspects in the case.

Sri Lanka: JVP condemns attack on UNP MPs

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday condemned the attack on a group of United National Party (UNP) parliamentarians, who were on a fact finding tour in Hambantota. JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath claimed the attack was not carried out by the masses, but by Madamulana thugs.
 "Parliamentarians are people's representatives. Therefore, any attack against parliamentarians is an attack against the public. This incident is a clear example of the jungle law prevailing in the country," he said.

A team of UNP MPs who were on an inspection tour of the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport have come under attack by unidentified goons, the Ada Derana reporter confirms. Stones were pelted at the bus that the MPs were travelling in, UNP MP R. Yogarajan told Ada Derana.
The team comprised UNP MPs Ajith P. Perera, Eran Wickremaratne, R. Yogarajan, Nalin Bandara and Ajith Manapperuma. While our bus was attacked outside the airport, while inside a group hooted at us, Yogarajan told Ada Derana.
He added that the MPs were threatened by this group and despite complaining to a high ranking police officer no action was taken.

SL intelligence squad behind attack on protestors in Trincomalee on HR Day

The masked men, who on Tuesday attacked a peaceful demonstration, which was staged by the relatives of missing persons in Trincomalee, belong to a squad operated by the intelligence wing of the occupying SL military, the organisers of the protest said on Wednesday. The members of the squad arrived through the Sinhala market, parked their motorbikes and launched the attack after covering their faces with clothes. More than one hundred peaceful demonstrators, most of them women, carrying the photos of their missing kith and kin, were brutally attacked by the men, who also destroyed the photos and placards on Human Rights Day in the city of Trincomalee while SL Policemen were watching the unfolding violent episode.

Killings gets more brutal in Sri Lanka

The killings in November make up a total of 450 killings, a drop by 15 per cent when compared with the previous year that saw around 646 cases, according to police and military statistics. However, the killings this year were of a more brutal nature where the killers went on to wipe out entire families irrespective of gender or age apparently in a bid to wipe out evidence or eyewitness accounts, Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent (SSP) Ajith Rohana said.

Sri Lanka heroin scam hits office of PM Jayaratne

DM Jayaratne DM Jayaratne said that that police investigations into the heroin seizure are continuing Sri Lanka's prime minister has ordered staff not to write letters in his name, after drug traffickers obtained a letter written by a secretary in his office to authorise a heroin shipment.
DM Jayaratne said that action would be taken against the sender.

A special police team under the Senior SSP for Nuwara Eliya, M.H.K.B, Mahagedara, has been dispatched to the Talawakelle Police to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident where the Minister of Estates and Infrastructure, Arumugam Thondaman, had allegedly stormed into the police station, abused the officers on duty, and had behaved in a manner that obstructed the police officers from carrying out their duties.

UPFA politico, goons grab 100 acres from estate

A UPFA Pradeshiya Sabha member and his cronies have grabbed around 100 acres by force from an estate belonging to Elpitiya Plantations at Habarakada, Thawalama.
The PS member and his supporters having encroached the land during the last couple of days were now occupying it, according to a complaint lodged with the Hiniduma police by the firm.
