Following the local government elections which ensured a victory for the TNA in the North and East, the government will have its next round of talks with the TNA next Monday as part of its plan to evolve a political solution, the party said yesterday
TNA MP Suresh Premachandran told the Daily Mirror that the TNA had once again received an overwhelming majority from the Tamil people in the North and East at the recent local government election for a dignified political settlement.
“If the government is serious, it should come up with clear cut proposals,” Mr. Premachandran said.
He said the TNA asked for a mandate from the people to fight democratically for extensive power sharing arrangements for the two provinces.
“We need some sort of an autonomous region,” he said.
