President Mahinda Rajapaksa informed Parliament yesterday (10th) that personnel of all armed forces were called for active duty. The Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody presented this announcement to Parliament.
The announcement states the aim of calling all personnel for active service is to prevent terrorist or public disturbances occurring in the country states the announcement.
Political analysts speaking to ‘Lankatruth;’ regarding this said it indicates that Mahinda Rajapaksa government expects and fears that a kind of public disturbance that occurred in Maldives or any other upheaval against the government could occur and added no one would be able to prevent any such upheaval in the country.
