He was responding to a question by ‘Srilankamirror’ over a remark by UNP’s Ravi Karunanayake that the JHU’s opposition cannot be accepted, since it did not oppose the LLRC earlier.
Mr. Warnasinghe noted the commission was appointed by the president to recommend measures to prevent the recurrence of a war, similar to the one from 2002, when the ceasefire agreement was signed, to 19 May 2009 when the war was ended.
However, it has crossed its limits in making its recommendations in a biased manner, and has not done justice to the Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil people and anti-LTTE Tamil political groups who suffered the brunt of terrorism, he said.
Also, this commission is not empowered to recommend political solutions or power devolution proposals, said Mr. Warnasinghe.
He added the JHU would act strongly if the recommendations are implemented in breach of the unity of the country and the interests of the legal armed forces and the Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil people and anti-LTTE Tamil political groups.
