North education director sent on compulsory leave

Northern province director of education Vigneswaran has been sent on compulsory leave.
He has been told by the provincial education secretary Ilangovan yesterday (July 27) that he was to be sent on compulsory leave by the province’s governor.

Meanwhile, state officials over 60 years of age are to be removed from service in the North, reports said.

The province’s chief secretary A. Sivaswamy has said a final agreement was yet to be reached on this.

The government has reportedly blamed state officials for its defeat at the recent local government polls in the North.
