India has called for the expeditious implementation of the recommendations of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC). India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Ashok K. Kantha said that the expeditious implementation of the recommendations of the LLRC will mark a major step forward in the process of national reconciliation.
“India will continue to support moves towards an early political settlement of the ethnic issue and other initiatives to build a caring society which ensures a life of equality, justice, self respect and dignity to all citizens,” the Indian High Commissioner said in a message to mark India’s Independence Day today.
He said that India believes that the end of the armed conflict presents an unprecedented opportunity to build a better future for all the people of Sri Lanka.
He also said that there has been impressive progress towards the resettlement of the IDPs and reconstruction in war ravaged areas.
