Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe’s eldest brother Shan Wickremesinghe today visited the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and lodged a complaint with the head of the CCD SP D.R.L. Ranaweera to immediately inquire as to how Dilith Jayaweera who could not afford a meal for Rs. 5 when he was a Law student in the Colombo University, has now purchased stocks of the Rs. 2 billion George Stuart Company.
Shan Wickremesinghe told Lanka News Web via telephone from Sri Lanka that Dilith Jayaweera is a son of two ordinary teachers and he had to explain how he managed to earn such a large amount of money within such a short span. He said that Dilith Jayaweera also needed to explain how he purchased the Liberty Plaza building for Rs. 500 million. Shan Wickremesinghe said that the whole transaction of purchasing the Liberty Plaza building is shrouded with controversy since 51 percent of the shares of the building was with the Urban Development Authority (UDA), which is under the purview of the Defence Ministry.
Shan Wickremesinghe further said that further details about Dilith Jayaweera and Nimal Perera could be known by investigating into Divasa Equity Company and that he was planning on exposing the inside trading carried out by the company in the Colombo Stock Exchange.
Shan Wickremesinghe was accompanied by his lawyer Sudath Jayasundera and Shan Wickremesinghe’s youngest brother Channa Wickremesinghe when he went to the CCD to lodge the complaint.
Shan Wickremesinghe told Lanka News Web that it was his late father Esmond Wickremesinghe who had taught him to expose corrupt persons without showing any mercy
