SLMC to hand over written objections over proposed changes to 13A

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress stated that it will hand over its written objections regarding the proposed changes to the 13th constitutional amendment to President Mahinda Rajapaksa this afternoon (June 12).

SLMC General Secretary Hassan Ali stated that the leaders of the ruling party intend on bringing about new regulations that prevent Provincial Councils from amalgamating.

He also said that through these proposed amendments, bills concerning Provincial Councils will no longer have to be approved by every council but just the majority of the Provincial Councils in the country.

The SLMC expressed their strong objections to these proposed amendments.
