The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has reiterated that its original stance not to participate in the proposed Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) remains unchanged. TNA spokesman and parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran said there was no change of mind with regard to the party’s decision not to take part in the proposed PSC.
In response to the comments made by Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Nimal Siripala de Silva urging the TNA’s participation at the Parliamentary Select Committee, Premachandran told Ceylon Today, the TNA has already informed the government that on the basis of meaningful decisions taken on the talks between the two sides, the PSC participation could be considered.
“The talks which were scheduled to be held on 17, 18, and 19 January did not take place between the two sides. However the TNA stands by whatever it had detailed to the government on the PSC,” Premachandran said.
Commenting on the ongoing Geneva session and the consequent issues he said the party was closely monitoring the UNHRC sessions and they stick to the decision that they need not be present at the sessions.
