Sri Lanka: Victor Ivan reveals Gota's relations to Bodu Bala Sena

Ivan
With the defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa being blamed following the calamity in Aluthgama and Beruwala, it seems that he had informed Gnanasara Thera of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) to call a media briefing and distance him from the organisation, advisor of the Ravaya newspaper - senior journalist Victor Ivan  says.

It is mentioned in a special report written by Victor Ivan to 'Ravaya' newspaper.

He has also revealed a secret which was only known among a handful of journalists.

He has further stated :

" A head of an intelligence service has contacted the news head of a certain media institution and requested to provide coverage for the press conference held by Gnanasara Thera (after the Beruwala incident)."

"Upon receiving no positive response from the journalist, the Defence Secretary himself has contacted the journalist and made the request."

"During the press conference Gnanasara Thera has repeatedly stated that Gotabaya Rajapaksa had no connection what so ever with his organization. It can be considered as a cat-out-of-the bag situation."

Gotabaya Rajapaksa who attained the position of a hero by fulfilling an important role in defeating Prbhakaran's military offensive at a historical moment, is currently reduced to a person who is 'messing up' the future development of the country, Victor Ivan says.

He further states that  though the President as well as his other two brothers - Chamal and Basil, are politically matured people, Gotabaya Rajapaksa is not so.

"Gotabaya Rajapaksa is not a political being, but merely a military being and he tries to perceive everything from a military point of view," he further says.
