Judges give full support to C.J.

The action of the government via the Impeachment Motion Impeachment Motion  is a violation of the principles of natural justice, said the Sri Lanka’s Judges’ Associations yesterday (03), calling for an impartial and transparent inquiryinto the allegations leveled against Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake. In no country in the entire world does the same party which makes the accusations also take a decision regarding the accusations, states the release issued following a crucial meeting attended by  the District Judges and Magistrates .

‘Is this the example the country is showing the world regarding the removal of the Chief Justice’, it questioned.

The joint statement, issued by the High Court Judges’ Association, District Court Judges’ Association, Magistrates’ Association and the Labor Court Association, also highlighted media behavior which has allegedly tarnished the image of the Chief Justice and the judiciary.

They requested media institutions to desist   insulting the country’s judiciary.

More than 30 judges speaking at this historical meeting  was  noteworthy.

The meeting was held from 3- 5.30 pm
