A human rights group has filed a complaint against police over the arrest of 33 men in Borella.
The respondents cited are the IGP, the police spokesman, OICs of 16 police stations and a police constable named Mahinda (no: 7494).
Attorney Udul Premaratne of the HR group said the charges against them are making unlawful arrests, levelling false accusations, assaulting the arrested suspects and threatening them against dealing with HR groups.
The arrests at T-20 Watte in Borella were made by around 400 police from 16 police stations.
Although the police claimed the arrested men included several criminal suspects with arrest warrants against them, the lawyer said, there were only two such persons among them.
