First report on the investigation into the attack on Uthayan paper Chief Editor, Mr Gnanasundaram Kuganathanhas been handed over to the President by the Inspector General of Police, Mr N K Ilangakoon yesterday (02). This has been informed to the media institutions by the Director, Media Unit Mr Bandula Jayasekara. He has also mentioned to expect a notification in this regard from the President today.
The Chief news editor of the Jaffna-based Uthayan news paper was assaulted by an unidentified group on July 29 on his way home from the office and was admitted to the Jaffna hospital in a critical condition. Mr. Kuganathan is in the intensive care unit of the hospital at the moment.
