Santhakumari Krishnapillai , Raped and killed - TN / Killed by a wild animal ?SLM

Two versions  of a story of a death of a Tamil women has appeared on different sites today. According to Tami Net she was raped and killed by the military. According to  media in Sri Lanka she was killed by a wild animal. Suprisinly president Rajapksha has ordred a state funaral for the victim.  -SLB

31-year-old mother of two children, Santhakumari Krishnapillai, from Thampiluvil, Batticaloa, who was on a pilgrimage to Kathirkaamam was raped and killed by Sri Lanka Army on Sunday early hours, according to a complaint made by the relatives of the woman. The incident took place near the riverside of Va’l’liyamman Temple at Kathirkaamam. The police came out with contradicting stories that the woman was killed either by a leopard or bear. Relatives who went to the spot noticed traces of rape. The body has been now taken to Tissamaharama hospital for autopsy.

Relatives of the woman found bite marks as well as cut injuries on her breast and semen stains on her dress.

A TNA parliamentarian of the Batticaloa district also said that according to his information the women had not been killed by wild animals but was raped and killed.

A woman pilgrim died in an attack by a wild bear while on her way to Kataragama Maha Devale.

She had been attacked yesterday (July 10) morning as she was making the pilgrimage from Panama by foot.

The victim has been identified as Krishnapulle Chandrakumari, a 32-year-old teacher.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has called for a state funeral for the woman who recently died in an attack by a wild bear while on a pilgrimage to Kataragama Maha Devale.

Reports say that President Rajapaksa has also directed the Thirukkovil police to facilitate funeral proceedings
